As deputy editor-in-chief at ZEIT ONLINE, Martin Kotynek is above all responsible for innovation and the strategic development of news content. He just returned from a year at Stanford University in Silicon Valley, where he pursued his research in the areas of innovation processes, strategies for digital media and managing media corporations as a Knight Journalism Fellow. In addition, he completed a training in “design thinking”. Previously, he worked as investigative editor at the German newspaper DIE ZEIT in Berlin. At the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, Kotynek held a position at the political newsdesk and was responsible for the “Topic of the Day” (page two).
